Does the integration sync events as they happen to NAS? (Or can it be set up to)

I'm looking at possibly getting a Tapo D235 video doorbell, what's stopping me is that the local storage is in the doorbell (and currently it doesn't support connecting to a hub like the H200 to record the video on a card in that device.

I've been looking at this integration and apologies if this is already answered elsewhere (I couldn't see it when I looked) what I want to do is record the stream directly to my homeassistant/NAS server (as well as to the sd card in the doorbell)

I can see that the video can be synced over a period of time, but it looks like that has to be triggered, is it possible for the video to be synced with the NAS when the motion events occur? Basically I want the video stored incase the doorbell gets taken!

Hi, if the doorbell supports media sync it would sync automatically every 5 minutes if enabled. I do not own a doorbell so we will have to wait for someone to confirm whether it does allow to browse the media stored on the device.

Thinking more about your use case... Even if it does support it, if someone comes, steals the doorbell in a few seconds, then walks away with it, it would not be synced. Syncing takes some time and integration has to wait until the recording is finished in order to sync.

If doorbell supports RTSP you can set up NVR to do this properly -- or use go2rtc if it doesnt support rtsp.

Thanks for such a speedy reply! It should support RTSP - I believe ONVIF support is on it too. I'm moving away from my existing Ring video doorbell which has an expensive subscription, and finding a doorbell that meets all my needs is surprisingly difficult! (I need it to be hardwired and battery, with some way of recording video directly to a device inside the home, there are eufy ones that do this but I have tapo devices, and keeping different systems to a minimum would be ideal!)

I'm running Homeassistant on an RPi5 and it currently runs lots of docker containers so don't really want to overload it by adding NVR on it too.

Ideally I'm looking to just record the stream directly to the RPi server when motion is activated to have a backup incase the doorbell is stolen. It looks like this isn't going to be the solution at the moment unfortunately. but this is why I'm doing research before buying :)
