IIUC, it is that we cannot run the ccall in the interpreter (without this function wrapper), so if we cannot fold the whole function away, we cannot fold away the ccall separately |
Ah, that sounds plausible. In that case the assume_effects should be kept on the ccall though with a noinline on the wrapper |

Can we just make a function wrapper from the compiler to run the ccall? |

Eventually, but it's a significant amount of work, while we should just fix the issue here first. |

Fixes / workaround #58395. Might be good to understand the reason as to why this happens though.
