Having thought about the temperature logger for a bit, I feel that a small addition would improve performance:
5mm thick metal base plate bonded to the PCB with thermal adhesive tape
self-adhesive magnet foil (1.5-2mm thick)
This would make the unit bulkier and nice and heavy, but improve performance, stop it from sliding around on the desk, and one could stick it to metal enclosures, rack frames etc.
First draft with tapped corner holes and a whole lot of blind holes accommodating the THTs:
To DIY this, 50x5 bar stock might be flat enough. In principle one could just get a quote from JLCPCB or such, but for a one-off it's probably better to 3D print a center punch template with a thru-hole for each hole center.
