Change proposal description

In an atom, there should be an attribute to encode the resolution of a raster.

Addressed TG

Technical Guidance for the implementation of INSPIRE Download
Services

Location

Chapter 5 : Atom Implementation of Pre-defined Dataset Download Service

Issue faced

We have rasters available in different resolutions and wish to encode that information in a single atom.

Proposed solution

Either an attribute in or an attribute in to allow for the resolution to be encoded.

Pull request

Additional information

Relevant legislation

In the annex of the COMMISSION REGULATION (EC) No 1205/2008, table 1, the multiplicity for "spatial resolution" (6.2) is 0..*, so it should be possible to encode several resolution in which a dataset is available in an atom.

During the work on the (endorsed) Good Practice Data Service Linking Simplification, the mapping between the INSPIRE metadata elements was review for each service type, thus including Atom. No appropriate element was found to map Spatial Resolution to. Therefore, the conclusion was that the spatial resolution has to be found in the metadata record for the dataset.

Sub-group meeting on 10.11.2023:
the Sub-group discussed the change proposal but no suitable element was found to map the requested information.

@thomruhl should any proposal for a specific map be provided the sub-group will evaluate it again.
