Dark mode changes profile picture

I would like to request a feature, which changes the profile picture based on is dark or light mode enabled.

For example, here: the profile picture would change if it would be light mode that is enabled.

End user would put two images into folder. One named darkprofile.jpeg another lightphoto.jpeg. Wowchemy would display dark photo when dark mode is enabled and vice versa.

I've been trying to implement a solution based on this answer but I've had no luck yet (the dark version is always chosen no matter the preference). Will try it again.
