Starfield AMDGPU hang (thread vkd3d_queue, MES failed to respond to msg=REMOVE_QUEUE) #2128

While testing #1778 I saw an 7900XTX hang about once every 60..90 minutes of playtime. Reproduced it twice so far. The hang reports vkd3d_queue as thread which I've not seen before.

Not sure if this is an amdgpu, mesa or vkd3d issue.

Starfield (latest Steam stable version)

System information

  • GPU: 7900XTX
  • Kernel: 6.11.0 Fedora 40
  • Driver: mesa 24.2.1
  • Wine version: Proton Experimental 9.0-20240918
  • VKD3D-Proton version: b73d5b0

Have you seen any more of this? I haven't seen any issues on RX 7600 so far, but maybe I haven't been testing under the right conditions/settings. Was there anything in common with those hangs, like type of location or other things?
