Compile for linux

I'm attempting to compile this for Linux 64 and I can't seem to figure out how that is done. I'm not a coder and understand very little about compiling and building. I cloned the repo in VS code, but I don't know how to perform a build operation as it continues to tell me to configure a default build task (in addition to telling me I don't have .NET SDK set up correctly). I've tried gcc from the command line, but I don't seem to have a configure script. I would appreciate any help as this is my first time compiling source code.
