OpenList was ported because someone openly requested it in a Hacker News post and I had the time to do it :P |

I've written some context about why I'm no longer maintaining my OpenList Chrome extension here: https://www.dzombak.com/blog/2024/02/OpenList-is-no-longer-available-in-the-Chrome-Web-Store.html |

I have been using firefox for most recent years due to open-source and Tree Style Tab. I depend on OpenList and Tree Style Tab (firefox, @piro_or), Tree Style Tab (https://chromewebstore.google.com/detail/tree-style-tab/oicakdoenlelpjnkoljnaakdofplkgnd) (I think?) for daily web browsing/problem solving. Tab import/export arguably being more important, especially with chrome where the tabs get smaller and harder to use as you grow them, but also naturally keeping excessive tabs in-check.
Android comes with Chrome, and I needed to get my tabs off my phone before it grew out of hand and it takes a day's work of closing tabs because the tab count turned to a ':D', opening the feedback loop of technical debt. To my disappointment, OpenList has been archived as of 2024-01-02 :( Thus I cannot open an issue to even fix the chrome web store URL.
This looks like it supersedes OpenList.
Here is the history: A cross-platform, cross-browser tab import/export extension
2011-05-11: Original Project by @cdzombak when Chrome appeared with a new app store. Chrome was ahead for years.
OpenList
2018-08-04: @EuanRiggans tags a first release of BulkURLOpener, which appears to be similar, though I had no reason to look for a new solution.
2019-03-05: OpenList ported/forked to Firefox by @Outpox, fork remains 3 commits ahead of original for 5 years
Outpox's OpenList
Compare:
cdzombak/OpenList@master...Outpox:OpenList:master
2020-: thought there was some major advancement in BulkURLOpener here?
2024-01-02: Chrome store url schema has changed, @cdzombak 's repo appears to be collecting dust, I cannot seem to find OpenList on the web store or a replacement. Fortunately @EuanRiggans has this up and working! It seems to be a suitable replacement, perhaps even better. I figured I should at least port history as the Chrome webstore puts a legend to rest as it's author has retired .. or something.
