Corrected finidat for ne120 and resubmitted the test:
PASS /glade/derecho/scratch/slevis/SMS_Ln9.ne120pg3_t13.IHistClm60SpCrujra.derecho_intel.clm-clm60cam7LndTuningMode_1979Start--clm-nofireemis.20251106_115427_ttyayc

The mpasa30 and NATL tests point to f09 finidat for now.
Anything I've done to change the mpasa30 to point to the ne120 finidat hasn't worked, though looking mpasa15 I see that it also defaults to f09.
I will try changing the NATL test to point to the ne120 finidat next, though looking at POLARCAP I see that this also defaults to f09.

UPDATE from meeting with @ekluzek today:
Since mpasa15 and POLARCAP already default to the f09 finidat, then we will not worry about changing that to the ne120 finidat for now. Besides, we expect that Adam will generate new initial conditions soon.

Izumi first attempt got stuck in SHAREDLIB_BUILD, second attempt worked:
OK ./run_sys_tests -s aux_clm -c alpha-ctsm5.4.CMIP7.16.ctsm5.3.082 -g alpha-ctsm5.4.CMIP7.17.ctsm5.3.082

Derecho
Waited to start aux_clm and ctsm_sci when the gnu compiler was back. Resubmitted this test to check:
PASS /glade/derecho/scratch/slevis/SMS_Ln9.ne120pg3_t13.IHistClm60SpCrujra.derecho_gnu.clm-clm60cam7LndTuningMode_1979Start--clm-nofireemis.20251107_115708_yj9trg

./run_sys_tests -s aux_clm -c alpha-ctsm5.4.CMIP7.16.ctsm5.3.082 -g alpha-ctsm5.4.CMIP7.17.ctsm5.3.082
./run_sys_tests -s ctsm_sci -c ctsm_sci-alpha-ctsm5.4.CMIP7.16.ctsm5.3.082 -g ctsm_sci-alpha-ctsm5.4.CMIP7.17.ctsm5.3.082

DIFF from baseline found as expected for gnu tests, but also for one ctsm_sci intel and two aux_clm nvhpc tests, so I will generate new baselines...

  • Open an issue about needing an updated ne120 finidat file for high resolution grids (0.25-degree and higher) when coupled to CAM (includes mpasa30, VR grids, ne120). Ping Adam H. in the issue.

@slevis-lmwg and I just went over this. There is one simple thing I asked for that he'll bring in. We also realized another improvement to make this easier that we should do to improve maintence at some point, but doesn't need to be part of ctsm5.4.000.

So far no change in test-suite results (aux_clm and ctsm_sci).
