As I have some more “novice” people using the app, I usually analyze it from their perspective to make things easier for them. Below are a few points I looked at, including some aesthetic suggestions:
Is there a specific reason why the “Main Page/Home” is labeled as Dashboard? I ask this mainly for translation purposes. In Portuguese, this word can only be translated into words that mean something more like “control panel” rather than a "main page”.
I understand that “Synced” might be used for downloads (if I think about the “action” that the download does), but to me it seems to have a double meaning. It took me a while to realize (especially in Portuguese) that it refers to the Download function rather than to synchronizing something.
Concerning the yellow icon with a dot indicating “not watched”: wouldn’t it be better not to show anything when content is not watched and display something (like a checkmark) when it has been watched? Alternatively, use a more subtle icon that also functions as a button to mark content as watched/unwatched.
Since the “Movies,” “Series,” and “Collections” buttons have moved to the side panel, I believe that (due to their importance) they should remain visible in the side panel even when it is not expanded. Perhaps the Favorites button doesn’t need to be visible, and the Downloads button could be positioned above the profile picture. Keep in mind that there may be several “libraries,” so this may require further consideration. I’m just throwing out some ideas; maybe you could place centralized buttons below the carousel/slideshow.
In “Banner Information,” in addition to Next-up/Continue/Combined, it might be a good idea to show recently added movies/series, randomly or combined (perhaps only if in slideshow mode). This could complement the Next-up posters, which already serve to display Continue/Next-up.
On monitors with 1440p resolution or higher, the app opens with the left panel expanded. I don’t think this is a bad thing (the extra space is well utilized), but perhaps it could be made optional (e.g., “Open app with expanded panel? Yes/No”).
Consider having changing, blurry background images (at least on navigation screens, etc.), similar to the official version, if you think it complements your app’s aesthetics.
Please note that my suggestions are based primarily on the Windows version. Feel free to disagree or propose alternatives, these are just my personal observations and ideas. And I apologize if I posted the discussion in the wrong place.
