Choosing a Specific Successor When Abdicating the Throne

Is there anyway you can potentially add a feature to let us choose a specific successor? Possibly through dialogue, but however's easiest works. Doesn't have to be super immersive.

When abdicating the throne, there's 3 options. None of them were the one I wanted to make king, and I can't make heads or tails out of whose gonna show up in the options when abdicating. It wasn't influence and I don't think it the amount of fiefs. So I'm not sure if we have control over who'll show up. (It's consistently the same three people and not random, however, so it might be controllable with meta gaming, if anyone has any insight for me.)
