Old backups are deleted despite failure to create new one

If a backup fails to be created, previous backups are still deleted. This can leave you in a situation with no backups rather than an old backup.

Issue occurred when VM export failed due to space constraints in the working directory. It's export was successfully marked as a failure in the log. Version is 24.03.21
