Bionic Self-Healing & Dynamic Epigenetic Reprogramming Architecture

Abstract

This repository introduces a novel neural network architecture that fundamentally addresses the catastrophic failure problem in deep learning systems operating under extreme conditions. In such scenarios, the inability to autonomously repair damaged computational structures can lead to mission failure or catastrophic financial losses. The architecture presented in this work provides a solution to this problem through biomimetic principles that separate learned knowledge into protected memory systems capable of reconstructing damaged operational parameters.

2. Theoretical Foundation: The Genotype-Phenotype Paradigm

The central innovation of this architecture derives from cellular biology's fundamental distinction between genotype and phenotype. 11. Conclusion

This repository presents a neural network architecture that fundamentally reimagines how learned knowledge is stored and maintained in artificial neural systems. By drawing inspiration from biological systems' separation of genotype and phenotype, we demonstrate that networks can maintain functional capability even after catastrophic parameter destruction—a level of resilience unattainable in conventional architectures.

Experimental validation across multiple domains shows consistent zero-shot recovery patterns, with particularly impressive results in combined stress scenarios involving both parameter corruption and distributional shift. The Langevin-Yamanaka protocol's thermodynamic repair mechanism provides superior adaptation through controlled stochastic exploration modulated by learned parameter importance signals.

These results suggest a path toward deploying neural networks in extreme environments where hardware failures are inevitable and retraining is impossible—from planetary rovers operating in radiation fields to financial systems navigating market chaos to edge devices experiencing progressive hardware degradation. Rather than attempting to prevent all damage through redundancy and overengineering, this architecture embraces damage as inevitable and provides autonomous repair capabilities that maintain functional operation under conditions that would completely disable conventional systems.

The broader implications extend beyond immediate applications. This work demonstrates that incorporating biological principles of memory separation, graduated repair, and thermodynamic equilibration into artificial neural systems can yield capabilities that emerge from the interaction of these mechanisms rather than being explicitly programmed. As we deploy neural networks into increasingly challenging and unpredictable environments, such biologically-inspired resilience mechanisms may prove essential for creating truly autonomous intelligent systems capable of long-term operation without human intervention.
