ask for root password as soon as the command is run

I think having to wait to enter root password is bad so why not as soon as the command is run ask for the password

Two workarounds:

1. Run sudo true && aconfmgr .... This will create a cookie in the current terminal which can be reused when aconfmgr needs to elevate.
2. Run aconfmgr as root directly, if that works better for you.
