Reopening the issue and moving to 3.2.11.
The cause is the lack of synchronization within BOY. This needs the whole connection layer to be redone properly.

Because I can recreate this with the user, we definitely shouldn't close the ticket until the user feels it has been solved (within reason).

John Sinclair was able to reproduce this on a Windows XP computer: A button that uses a rule to update its color only changes its color when the mouse is moved over the button.
It used to work OK with an older version of CSS.

Unclear:

• Is this only on Windows?
• Is this specific to buttons?

Maybe the rule works OK, but it updates only the "active" color of the button, and this bug is not about rules but results from the widget consolidation (Original Button, Native Button -> One Button widget. Original Text Update, Native Text -> One Text Update widget).

John will try to create a basic *.opi that can be used to demo the effect.

Hi,

I'm seeing a similar issue on Mac OSX. I have a grid of toggle button tied to output PVs and their background color is tied to readback input PVs via a rule. In BOY 3.2.10 the background color will only update when I move the mouse pointer off the button. In BOY 3.1.4 the background color updates (after a short delay) while the mouse is still hovering over the button.

Also in 3.2.10 if the readback input PVs tied to the rule change independently, some buttons will update their background color and some will not. I then have to mouse over the buttons to trigger a repaint. This didn't happen in BOY 3.1.4.
