Exchange grids (XGrids; see Balaji et al., 2006, Bauer et al., 2021 and Daniel Rosen's CW2023 talk and slides and Ufuk Turuncoglu's CW2023 talk and slides) look to be a good approach for calculating fluxes between model components on different grids, e.g. from DATM to MOM6 and CICE6, or between WW3 and MOM6/CICE6.

ESMF supports the regridding methods we'd likely want to use (patch and 1st order conservative) with XGrids http://earthsystemmodeling.org/regrid/
