Iframe Privacy Shield

Ben Gillbanks edited this page Nov 28, 2020 · 1 revision

The iframe privacy shield is designed to make websites more private by turning iframe embeds (most commonly for things like Youtube videos) into a button that loads the iframe when clicked.

By doing this users do not get tracked by the third party sites without their consent.

Note: This only works for iframe embeds. Javascript embeds do not get caught in this way.

Benefits

There are 2 key benefits to this process:

  1. User data is not shared without their consent.
  2. Websites are faster since third party content that may not be watched/ interacted with does not get loaded until its needed.
