KPS Export/Import

Abstract

Tool to export KPS tables from an API Gateway/Manager instance into an KPS table archive and to import the KPS table archive into an API Gateway/Manager instance.

Background

This tool is a wrapper around kpsadmin to provide a convenient way to export and import KPS tables.

The kpsadmin tool is part of the Axway API Gateway installation. Additional to other features it can be used to create a backup of the KPS tables and to restore the KPS tables.

Usage

General

The export/import scripts have to be executed on the server hosting the according API gateway instance.

An environment variable AXWAY_HOME has to be defined which points to the home directory of the Axway API Gateway installation. This is the directory containing the apigateway sub-folder.

Example
$ export AXWAY_HOME=/opt/Axway-7.7

Export KPS Tables

The kpsexport.sh script can be used to export the KPS tables of an API Gateway instance into a compressed archive (format: tgz).

The script has to be invoked with the following options:

Option Description Required

-u USER

Admin node manager user.

yes

-p PASSWORD

Password of the admin node manager user.

yes

-g GROUP

Group name of the API Gateway instance.

yes

-n INSTANCE

Name of the API Gateway instance

yes

-f FILE

File path of the target KPS archive (*.tgz)

yes

Example: export KPS tables
$ ./kpsexport.sh -u admin -p changeme -g APIM -n APIM1 -f ~/kps-tables.tgz

In the background the script executes following steps:

  1. Create KPS backup of API Gateway instance via kpsadmin backup (can be suppressed).

  2. Determine UUID of the backup.

  3. Create archive of backup file collection (same UUID prefix) from the API Gateway instance folder conf/kps/backup.

Import KPS Tables

The kpsimport.sh script can be used to import the KPS tables of a compressed archive (format: tgz) into an API Gateway instance. The archive has to be created by kpsexport.sh.

After import all API Gateway instances of the same group have to be restarted.

The script has to be invoked with the following options:

Option Description Required

-u USER

Admin node manager user.

yes

-p PASSWORD

Password of the admin node manager user.

yes

-g GROUP

Group name of the API Gateway instance.

yes

-n INSTANCE

Name of the API Gateway instance

yes

-f FILE

File path of the source KPS archive (*.tgz)

yes

--no-backup

Suppress the creation of a backup.

no

Example: import KPS tables
$ ./kpsimport.sh -u admin -p changeme -g APIM -n APIM1 -f ~/kps-tables.tgz

In the background the script executes following steps:

  1. Extract archive to conf/kps/backup folder of the API Gateway instance.

  2. Create KPS backup of API Gateway instance via kpsadmin backup (can be suppressed).

  3. Clear KPS tables of API Gateway instance via kpsadmin clear.

  4. Restore archived KPS tables to the API Gateway instance via kpsadmin restore.
