claude.ai's uploader caps description at 200 characters. The Agent Skills spec and the Skills API allow 1024, and spec_validator.py encodes 1024 — so this skill passed every local check and would still have been rejected on upload at 461 chars.

461 → 194. Shortened, not truncated: a 200-char cut would have kept the what it does half and deleted the entire Use when… clause, which is the half that decides whether the skill triggers.

Lost as trigger phrases: BASIC/STANDARD/POWERFUL, pre-commit hooks, skill QA into CI. Added: before uploading one to claude.ai.

No functional change — the description is level-1 metadata. No script reads it, no guide references it, the body is untouched.

Verified: strict yaml.safe_load parses · spec_validator CONFORMANT · claim_auditor TRUTHFUL.

claude.ai's uploader caps `description` at 200 characters. The Agent Skills
spec and the Skills API allow 1024, and spec_validator.py encodes 1024, so this
skill passed every local check and would still have been rejected on upload at
461 characters.

Shortened rather than truncated. A truncation would have kept the "what it
does" half and cut the entire "Use when..." clause, which is the half that
decides whether the skill triggers at all -- the opposite of what you want.
Both halves are still here at 194 characters.

What is gone: BASIC/STANDARD/POWERFUL tier vocabulary, "pre-commit hooks", and
"integrating skill QA into CI". Those stop being trigger phrases. "before
uploading one to claude.ai" is new, and covers a question people actually ask.

Nothing else changes. The description is level-1 metadata: no script reads it,
no guide references it, and the body instructions are untouched.
