Changes to Agenta's Open Source and Commercial Features

We are updating our open-source model starting v0.36 to better support production-ready deployments and to ensure sustainable development of the Agenta platform. Here's what’s changing:

What’s New in Open Source:

• Authentication: We added full authentication capabilities. You can now manage users, securely log in and log out, and authenticate API requests using API keys.
• Model Registry: We are introducing the Model Registry feature into the open-source version.

These changes make the open-source version of Agenta fully production-ready and secure for enterprise deployments.

Features Moving to Commercial Only:

• Evaluations: All evaluation features (Human Evaluation, Automatic Evaluation, Custom Workflows) are now available exclusively in our commercial offering.

Why These Changes?

Our goal is to maintain a sustainable model for Agenta. Previously, open-source instances lacked essential security features (authentication, API key support), limiting production readiness. By shifting advanced evaluation features to the commercial offering, we can continue providing strong support, regular updates, and ongoing development.

Impact on Current Users:

• Existing Self-hosted Users: You can continue using evaluation features by staying on your current version. If you upgrade, evaluation features will no longer be available. You can easily roll back if an unintended upgrade occurs—no data will be lost.
• Cloud and Enterprise Users: No changes.

Next Steps:

• To retain evaluation capabilities and access new features, consider upgrading to our enterprise self-hosted version. Contact our team to discuss pricing tailored to your needs.
